Join Us in Promoting Online Safety This February!

At Jamia Al-Hudaa, we are committed to fostering a safe and positive digital environment for our students, staff, and families. Throughout February 2025, we are amplifying our efforts to raise awareness about online safety through interactive initiatives, educational resources, and collaborative activities. As part of this campaign, we invite parents and carers to partner with us in empowering children to navigate the digital world responsibly and confidently.

Celebrating Safer Internet Day

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, 5th February —a day recognized globally as Safer Internet Day. This year’s theme, “Together for a Better Internet,” underscores the collective responsibility we share in creating a safer, kinder, and more inclusive online space. To commemorate this important occasion, our school has organized:

  • Whole-school assemblies exploring digital citizenship, respectful communication, and critical thinking online.
  • Classroom activities where students collaborate on projects like designing “Digital Kindness Pledges” and role-playing scenarios to address cyberbullying or privacy concerns.
  • Interactive discussions about balancing screen time, recognizing misinformation, and safeguarding personal data.

Resources for Parents and Carers

We believe that open conversations at home are vital to reinforcing online safety. To support your family’s journey, we’ve curated a comprehensive Parent/Carer Resource Pack, now available on our website. This toolkit includes:

Conversation Starters: Thought-provoking questions to spark meaningful dialogues with your child about

their online experiences (e.g., “What apps make you feel happy or worried?”).

Digital Safety Fact Sheet: Practical tips on privacy settings, reporting tools, and age-appropriate platforms,

alongside statistics about children’s online habits.

Family Pledge Card: A fun, customizable template to create shared commitments—like “We will always ask

permission before downloading new apps”—to foster accountability.

Parent Guide Video: A 10-minute film highlighting real-life scenarios and expert insights to help you understand

 current digital trends and challenges.

How to Get Involved

  1. Download the Pack: Visit Jamia Al-Hudaa’s Online Safety Hub to access all resources.

  2. Watch and Discuss: Share the video with your family and use the discussion prompts to reflect on your digital habits.

Why This Matters

In today’s interconnected world, guiding children to use technology mindfully is not just about avoiding risks—it’s about helping them thrive. By working together, we can equip young people with the resilience and empathy needed to harness the internet’s opportunities while navigating its challenges.
